How does this Event work ?

It's a step tournament
           1)  Golfers enter as 2-somes (or as a single and will be paired with another single)
           2)  2-somes from around the country are randomly paired in teams of 8 golfers
           3)  Teams are then randomly put in groups of 4 teams
           4)  Golfers play their regular leagues, then upload their scores on the event web site.
           5)  The winning team of each group of 4 teams advances
           6)  Golfers watch the web site to see their standings
           7)  The advancing 2-somes from the various wining teams are randomly formed into new teams
           8)  These new teams are again put in groups of 4 teams
           9)  The play again, and a team must again only beat 3 other teams to be in the finals.
           10)  The finals use the same format to determine the winners.

What are the playing rules of the " 4 4 Team event" ?
1.USGA rules are used except where they are counter to the specifics of this tournaments rules.

    Where do I  golf  the " 4 4 Team event" ?
Each 2-some must play at their local course and use the scores played during their local leagues.
They must play at a par 72 course.

When do I golf it ?
A golfer  designates 3 consecutive dates of a league when he or she signs in to the event.  The golfer or 2-some
will upload and use those scores for the first step of the 44 Doubles Team Event.  If the 2-some wins in the first
step he  or she will see that on the web site and be notified.  At that time the 2-some will designate 3 more
dates with 44 Doubles Event and after that play the 3 dates and up load those scores to the event web site.
The next step is the same as the last.

How will playing in this tournament affect my AMATEUR STATUS ?
Playing the qualifier and semifinal rounds of the tournament will not affect a golfers amateur status.
Only the golfers in the final prize round of the finals will be affected and will have to apply for reinstatement.
These rulings have been issued by the USGA Amateur board after reviewing the tournament format.  If a
golfer gets to the final prize round he or she may opt out of the prize money before playing which would leave
his or her amateur status unaffected.

  What's different about the "4 4 Doubles Event" ?
          A team (4  2-somes, 8 golfers) only plays against 3 other teams.
Teams (4  2-somes) are assembled randomly.
Each 2-some will play at their home course and use the scores from their local league.

What about cheaters and verifying scores ?

This is addressed in several ways;
         1)  Witnesses willing to verify scores and sign the score card.
A golfer (a team) is required to have 3 other golfers he or she played with in each step sign the score cards
verifying they played with and witnessed the scores.  A golfer in the 44 Team Event needs to explain this
to the golfers he or she is playing with before they play.   Explain that if a golfer wins in the final money
round the witness he or she played against will be required to sign a notarized document affirming the validity
         of the scores.
This means the other golfers must know they need to be paying attention.

         2)  If a golfer wins in the prize round a he or she must;
Have each of the signers of score cards sign a notarized document.
Those signers must be willing to sign a notarized document affirming their witness of scores should the
tournament golfer win in the prize step of the event.

        3)  A cheater would have a very hard time getting 3 people at each round to sign a notarized document.

        4)  Another basic part of  verification is the "Other Game" approach that encourages others to check
reported scores. In the "Other Game", any person discovering and reporting an inaccurate score
reported to the league would receive all prize money the offending golfer would have received. Anyone
could...anonymously... go online at 44 Doubles and see reported scores and compare them to local records
and a chance to ...anonymously... collect a violating golfers cash. The "Other Game" also includes provisions
to avoid collusion between a golfer and someone turning them in.

The "Other Game" opportunity and information is
to be printed and posted with the pro shop or start desk at
courses with online golfers. This is the responsibility of the golfer.

        5)  The power behind this concept is that it's fun to catch a friends mistake, and most people who cheat
        have enemies.

        6)   Through our other businesses our lawyers and we are experienced in multi state cases. For this
league the most likely step would be small claims court. These vary from state to state, in Michigan
for example amounts up to $3500.00 can be addressed in small claims. It's simple, quick, cheap,
and no lawyers are needed. We in fact feel it would actually be very good PR to prosecute (not in
small claims) a visible case to recover damages and show we are serious. Any cases would involve
actual cash plus damages to the league which would far exceed any cash involved.

        7)   These methods have worked very well for our other events bowling and golf.

        8)   If you're a cheater,   "We'll make you Famous"

How can golfers of different skill levels compete ?

1)  All teams are composed of 2-somes who are assembled randomly.
        2)  When a team wins and advances that team and the 2-somes making up the team are split up and put into
             the "hat".
        3)  Those golfers are then randomly reassembled into new 2-somes, who are then randomly reassembled
into new teams for the next step.
        4)  A  team may have any combination of very good or not so good golfers, but that changes at each step
             as golfers advance.
        5)  A team competes with  3 other teams in every "Group of 4"  those teams have the same chance of having
very good or not so good golfers.
        6)  If a team had a lucky mix in the first step the second and third will be a whole new mix.
        7)  To advance a team must play better than the other 3 teams in the "Group of 4"
        8)  Various divisions (index, age, etc.) will be added to sessions of the event.

How do I only compete with 3 other teams ?

One team out of each 4 teams in a squad will advance to the semifinals.
Teams are randomly put into "Groups of 4"  those 4 teams only compete against each other.

When a squad has a number of teams not a multiple of 4.
The teams left over at the end of "Group of 4 selection"  will be the start of the "Extra Group of 4"
At that time, all other teams will be put back  in the "hat",  and  1, 2, or 3 teams will be will pulled
out of the hat to complete the compliment of 4 for the "Extra Group of 4".
These "place holder" teams cannot win in the "Extra Group of 4", only in their original "Group of 4".
The "Live Teams" in the "Extra Group of 4" must beat the place holders to win.
The winning team must beat the 3 other teams in their "Group of 4".

How can golfers compete at different courses ?

1)  A team is composed of 4  2-somes playing at different courses at different times.
        2)  All golfers must play at a par 71-73 course.
        2)  The golfers and 2-somes making up a team will be playing in different states under varying conditions.
        3)  The scores will be played over 3 weeks, again more potential for varying conditions.
        4)  Each team will be made up of 2-some with varying skill levels.
        5)  New teams are  assembled at each step of the event. All teams will face various combinations of skill levels,
easy or more difficult courses, good or bad conditions,
        6)  For any team to advance they as a team will have to play better than the 3 other teams they are
             playing against.

     What can I win ?

The  prize money is paid to teams in finals round.  There are other potential prizes from sponsors but that is
in negotiation at this time.  Prize money in national finals is based on the number of teams in the event.
For examples, if there are 64  teams in the finals prize money would be $6,144.00, if there are 250 teams,
the prize fund  will be $24,576.00. with 1024 teams the prize money would be $98,304.00

Can a golfer enter this  tournament more than once ?
Yes a golfer may enter the tournament more than once, in the same 2-some or as a member of another 2-some.
A golfer may play on any number of advancing 2-somes.

What are squad leaders, and what do they get ?
Squad leaders help sign up golfers to play in this event.  A squad leader will have golfers sign in with an
SL number that designates him as their squad leader (SL).  If a golfer in a particular squad leaders squad wins
the squad leader gets a percentage of the winners money.  That percentage will be determined and posted soon.

What about the reality TV program ?

The finals may be made into a reality TV program  about  everyday golfers all going after a big prize.
The program will follow the contestants, their families and friends as they advance
to the big prize, or as they get beaten out

What about sandbaggers and pros entering this  tournament ?
The tournament reserves the right to disqualify any golfer at any stage of the tournament at it's sole discretion
to preserve the fairness and reputation of the tournament.  The tournament is taking extreme measures to
maintain  the integrity of the averages and handicap system in the tournament.

Any golfers winning money will be responsible for the verification of all previous scores in earlier steps
of the event.  That will include multiple signed league records.  Personal interviews with local league
officers and others will be part of the verification process.
